Ok. I been working with Helm for awhile now. I order a brand new server with free Plesk to add more hosting servers. I am so confused between the administrator, the client and the webuser. I must be too tired to figure this out on my own so I am asking for some help.

Under HEMm you have an Admin, which mainly sells to resellers, then the reseller in turn has clients. A reseller under HELM does the actual webhosting.

With Plesk I am confused with this structure and want to set it up the right way. Plesk came with its own DNS so MS DNS I turned off. I think Plesk came with everything basically so I disabled allot of other services.

I have one big problem to start off with. I want to move my main website that is for my business to new box. I dont know where to start. I first must find out how to set up the DNS. Do I make my ownself a client? Ive watched the tutorials that are kinda vague to what I need I think.

Do we have any Plesk pros availible to help us newbies out. I would very much appreciate this. After last night, I was thinking of ordering HELM with my new server because of the frustration.

Please provide info for us nebies out there.

Thanks.

Can anyone give me info what I need to start Plesk running smoothly? I see others in this forum running Plesk at full speed, but I am lost where the client begins. Where do I put main NS; as and admin or create myself a client.

Hi,

You can create clients as an admin and you can then give these clients reseller permissions ie to create domains etc, but you do not need to create a reseller account in order to setup client accounts.

If you add clients as admin you can give them the capability to become resellers, whereas if you create it as a reseller you can add domains but you can't create resellers from under your reseller account.

As for your own site, add yourself as a client and you can put all of your domains under there (you can be logged in as admin to work with clients accounts) and that is where you can add your main site.

Not sure if this helps, I am not too sure about dns because I picked up that you are using windows and I am using linux,

Thanks, Matt

I thank you so much for clarifying this for me. This helps allot. I think I have a guideline to work with now. I am so used to HELM and its ways. Helm was a pain cause you had to install php, mysql, etc on their own.

Thanks mkdi.

I'm still wondering my DNS, but I think its nipped in the bud as well.

No problem..!

If you have more questions you can post to the plesk forums here, I am sure more people will start to use this forum soon too...

As I mentioned I am using psa7 on redhat enterprise so hopefully someone can help you with the windows related things if you get stuck again,

Thx, Matt
