Full Version: resolver setup

I've seen versions of this asked a few times, but the answers vary and the ones I've seen don't jibe with WHM instructions.

If I have my own name servers, then WHM says my primary nameserver must be listed first. Okay, I can do that. Do I have to follow it with any others, like 127.0.0.1? WHM says I do because if my only resolver is down then I can't resolve, but if my only resolver is me and it's down then I don't care much anyway about not being able to resolve because I prob have bigger problems.

I had it set up with mine first, 127.0.0.1 next, then a planet ns ip third. It seemed to work okay, but when I click 'manage nameserver ips' in WHM, it takes a really long time like a min or two, or sometimes not at all. Maybe coincidentally, but when I changed the only resolver to only me, that problem went away.

Yes, you should follow your own IP up with 127.0.0.1.

Don't be stupid, he doesn't have to do that, his own IP is sufficient in that case.

hmmm, food for thought, well, thanks, I'll try both.
