Hello,

My Name is Paul / I try and run Instagator.com but I have a few problems.. icon_smile.gif
This is my first post also so Hello! and Thanks .. I love these forums, they are filled with information icon_smile.gif

Question a)
I setup the dns according to the 101 and the one explained in cpanel and it looks like its working . It has the correct zones and what not, but everytime I enter whm, it pops up with an alert stating my hostname [my last name on the box] a zone entry is missing. WHen I click on add , it says Found your

hostname to be: blahblah
Found your short hostname to be: blahblah
Found your domain name to be:
Found your main ip to be: 69.93.194.210
If this looks correct,

So I click it.

This comes up:

Zone does not exist, a new zone for blahblah. will be created.
Sorry, a DNS entry for blahblah. already exists, please delete it first Add Complete

I removed and added dns zone and moreved and same thing..

Any ideas?

The other question, I run www.instagator.com / I try to go to go daddy's website to change the name servers to ns1.instagator.com and ns2.instagator.com and it won't let me. States that the fields are invalid. Why would that be? .. Anybody know?

ok, Since peeps been asking me how I did it icon_smile.gif..

The solution for both is below

The reason why that error message kept on popping up when I entered whm is because the hostname was invalid. Make sure you go to CHANGE HOSTNAME under server setup. That will fix that issue. You may have to delete the dns zone first and then change the host name. That way it will be done.

As the second question, why am I unable to add the new dns [sn1.domain.com / sn2.domain.com ] is because the internet providers are not recognizing that as a dns server. Even though you complete the dns on your server, you will still need to do one last step.

In godaddy.com you'll have to add it under "Domain Host Summary" section . To get to this screen, you will have to go click on my account, login with your username and password, then click on the domain, and you will see it on the right hand side at the bottom.

There you can add you name server with the correct ip icon_smile.gif

Hope this helps as I'm a complete newb when it comes to dedicated servers. Correct me if I'm wrong on any of these steps icon_smile.gif
