Hi all

I'am preparing my new server at ServerMatrix to transfer all clients from BurstNet. I need to stay with present nameservers so I did some configuration in that way.

First of all I couldn't assigned new IPs to the nameservers from WHM as it is resolving to old server IPs. So I manually entered this by editing /etc/nameserverips

After that I went again to cPanel-WHM Edit setup and clicked on "Add an A entry.....". Respond was OK, everything was set to add an entry. I clicked on this and respond was that adding an A entry was completed. Then I started BIND

The problem is that DNS zone files for both nameservers are NOT created. I tried once more but nothing. So, what should I do now ? Do I have to add this 2 DNS zone files manually ? Do I have restart BIND after doing this ?

Further, I want to setup Resolver but I'am not sure what should I enter under Primary, Secondary and teritary resolver. Any ideas ?

thanks

I'am preparing my new server at ServerMatrix to transfer all clients from BurstNet. I need to stay with present nameservers so I did some configuration in that way.

>change the IPs of your name severs at your domain registar to point to >your new server
>(ns1.nameserver.ext = new ip1 #)
>(ns2.nameserver.ext = new ip2 #)

>then wait bout 72hours for DNS propagation

First of all I couldn't assigned new IPs to the nameservers from WHM as it is resolving to old server IPs. So I manually entered this by editing /etc/nameserverips

this is most likly due to propagation you can enter it manually then wait

After that I went again to cPanel-WHM Edit setup and clicked on "Add an A entry.....". Respond was OK, everything was set to add an entry. I clicked on this and respond was that adding an A entry was completed. Then I started BIND

restart bind from the SSH command line rather then in whm

"service named restart"

The problem is that DNS zone files for both nameservers are NOT created. I tried once more but nothing. So, what should I do now ? Do I have to add this 2 DNS zone files manually ? Do I have restart BIND after doing this ?

once you setup the WHM reboot your server then go in to ROOT
and check the following files
pico /etc/nameserverips
pico /etc/resolv.conf
pico /etc/hosts

Further, I want to setup Resolver but I'am not sure what should I enter under Primary, Secondary and teritary resolver. Any ideas ?

thanks
