WHM gurus,

I would like to change the default root login for WHM, i'm not comfortable with this configuration, reasons are clear i guess. I couldn't find anything on the forums. Appreciate your help.

Tks,
MC

Can WHM be changed to allow the login username to be other than "root"?

You'd have to take that up with cPanel. Up until a few weeks ago, it didn't even matter what username you put in there as long as you used the root password.
Angel
you have to use root password to login to WHM, so you can't have a root pass for WHM and another root pass for SSH.
bman
ok but can you chnge the login name from root to something else ?
i mean i cracker will be running multi passwords as long he is sure that the username is root
in webmin i never use root and that makes it extra hard to crack it
Jeff
Agreed - an unknown username:password combination is a lot more secure than just a password with a known username.

Maybe we should all add this to the feature request thread on the cpanel forums as well.
