Just wondering if anyone knows the best way to set up the dual xeon servers.
First heres what i have and what im doing.
Dual xeon 2.4
1536 megs ram
80 gig hdd
Windows server 2003
Setting up maybe 5 or 6 servers for my clan to play on.
Games are cod, mohaa , spearhead
Should i asign different game servers to different cpu's. Say like 3 on one cpu and 2 on the other or should i just let the system handle the cpu utilisation.
I have experience with single processor servers but not the duals so any info you guys (or gals) can help me out with will be appreciated.

i dont think you actually can tell it what cpu to use as they run together and share the load.

No they can be seperated in your task manager. Its under the command set affinity. Just not sure whats better.

i just let mine do it by itself after all with a dual xeon i have never had to deal with cpu usage as ram goes way before cpu

I believe Win2K3 will autobalance the load.

um y would you want to assign sertain things to sertain cpu's? what if say u assign the first 2 servers to 1 cpu and the las3 3 servers to the second and the first 2 have no clients in them but the last 3 servers are full? then u have 1 cpu doing 3 servers and 1 cpu doing barly anything

Arcadie you have a point only along a different set of cirumstances. I dont have clients. Its for my clan. You do make a valid point though. If noone is playing in the 2 or 3 setup on one cpu then the other one is doing all the work for what? Nothing. Good point and I think thats my answer. Thanx all.
