Is there anything Floodguard could be doing to cause issues with using an e-mail client? Just set up a server here and moved over some accounts. DNS has propogated and were all set.

Now, in my Outlook Express, I have roughly 20 accounts set up. It will go through the first 7 or so accounts and then the rest fail (error below). After that, they all will fail for about an hour or so....then the first 7 work, then the rest fail for another hour. Occasionally, it will check all accounts with no problems, just to stop working 1 min later.

Turning off APF didn't help the issue and I can't find anything else that would be causing the problem. I'm wondering if floodguard (with this being a new server) things is some kind of attack on port 110 and blocking it.

Has anyone seens something like this before?

The error I'm getting is:
Your server has unexpectedly terminated the connection. Possible causes for this include server problems, network problems, or a long period of inactivity. Account: '********', Server: 'mail.*******.net', Protocol: POP3, Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Error Number: 0x800CCC0F

Had floodguard set up for both of my servers but did not face what you are facing. Doubt it has anything to do with Floodguard.

Thats what I figured...I'm at a loss. Everything was fine prior to the move so I believe it is on the server end...I just can't determine what it is. I'll fiddle some more and see if I can determine what the problem is.

Restart your server and see if that helps.

Is that necessary on a Linux Box? Thought that was a Windows thing icon_wink.gif

I'm rebooting now...should be back up in a few moments.
TH-Taylor
Nope...no help....still doing it. The first round, it checked them all just fine...second time they started failing.

Haa haa. Well, I reboot my Linux server more often then my windows icon_wink.gif When things seems to go wrong and usually they do, a quick reboot to resolve that.

LOL...Kind of a bad joke on my part....anyhow, I'll see if I can figure out what's going on with this thing...I'm sure its something simple that I'm overlooking.

Are you by any chance using CPanel/WHM ?

If so, under Tweak Settings, you might want to look into the following options :-

Attempt to prevent pop3 connection floods

The number of times users are allowed to check their mail using pop3 per hour:

LOL...well sort of. The flooding box was not checked....I checked it, saved...then went back and turned it off....so far so good..

That was one of the first things I looked at. I won't ask why it had to be turned on, then off to work properly, but I guess thats a Cpanel thing icon_wink.gif

Thanks again for your help...I'll update should the problem return..

Now...I need to figure out how I close the ticket in Orbit???
