While the sites are all connected and working when I try to open cpanel of any site or to the WHM of my server I get a blank page and then an error message.

What should I do now, open a support ticket ?

thanks in advance for your answer

Did you set it to auto update Cpanel ? If so, it is likely the problem is caused by the issue listed at http://forums.cpanel.net/showthread.php?s=...&threadid=19934

Just do what the posting say and you should get it back. It seems a bad installation.

thanks Eddie

As a new bie I don't feel confortable running the fix and I submitted the support ticke as they ask.

But not aswer at the moment after almost 2 hours

By the way where is my cpanel licence number located?

thanks

No idea where the keys are kept. I am sure they are encrypted somehow.

Anyways, if you have it to auto update, when you get your WHM back, set it to manual update so that this will not happen over and over again.

Apparently the cPanel layer2 rsync server was DDoS'd last night, halting quite a few servers' auto updates, leaving them with 1/2 an update and causing cPanel to fail. Running /scripts/updatenow then /scripts/upcp manually should fix this.

Your cPanel licenses are kept on cPanel's server. They verify these licenses by IP.

Klaude,
I too have he same problem with cPanel/RHE 3/SC 2.4.

I ran:
/scripts/updatenow
I got:
rsync: getaddrinfo: rsync.cpanel.net 873: Name or service not known
rsync error: error in socket IO (code 10) at clientserver.c(83)

I ran:
/scripts/upcp
I got:

In addition to the above, my IMAP is not running too? I tried restarting it from WHM but it kept on failing.

It sound like a cPanel connection problem!? Or, could it be the APF I installed today? Or is it time to submit a ticket?
Luckily, I just got this server this week and haven't moved anything yet.

Thanx,
Z.

For some reason, when I have this:

domain darkorb.net
search darkorb.net
nameserver 216.118.116.106
nameserver 216.118.116.101

in my /etc/resolve.conf, cpanel update seem to function OK. However, when I add my own (ns1 ip and ns2 ip), I lose connectivity from the box outwards? For example, nslookup and ping won't return failure for yahoo.com and others !?

Any clues?
APF off/on doesn't seem to matter.

I had tried this, but kept getting the resynch problems. I didn't know it had something to do with the resolv.conf having my ips, instead of the above. Since I couldn't get any answer (SM is asleep!), I manually re-installed cpanel!

cpanel seems to have altered the resolv.conf to the darkorb.net nameservers. It did help in bringing everything back (cpanel/whm), but then I am left with a resolv.conf that doesn't belong to me. If I replace the IPs with my ns1/ns2 ips, I lose connectivity and nothing would work. No nslookup, no lynx, no ping and of course, no cpanel updates, etc. It seems that I lose connectivity from the box out to the network if I put my IPs in the resolve.

Any Idea? Of course, APF was stopped during all this.

Z.
PS: Now that I am working command line, I am not sure why I should keep cpanel/whm. It's the same as command line but $20/Month more!
