I am still able tolog into my server after I cancelled it.
from the closing tocket:

This ticket has been assigned to the Accounting dept. they will cancel the server effective at the end of the month. Your billing will stop at that time also.
This ticket will not be updated any further.

it takes time my friend they have thousands of servers to watch and keep track of your server will be cancelled when they have time to get there in the mean time relax

ok cool. I just wanted to be sure that I wasn't going ot be charged for another month. Actually I relialized that I forgot some files on the server so I had a chance to get them
I would rather them work on the ones that are live then spend time working on a canned box.
See you got lucky..if they had shut it off...you would be at a Loss

If you have told them that you wanted it cancelled and they do bill you complain and if all else fails Dispute the Charges.

Don't worry. Same thing happened to me and they got to it about a week after it was "official". It's a very low priority item as you can imagine.

It is advisable to cancel a server about 5 to 7 days before the end of the month to ensure that it does get done at the end of the month.
As long as sales approve the cancellation, it will definitely be done. If you do not want the server to get unnecessary traffic, you can contact support to unplug the machine. That's what I did..
It has to go through several steps and that takes time. And yes, cancellation is a low priority job and as long as you are not charged the next billing cycle, there is nothing to worry about it. Even if they take a year to reclaim the machine, it is their issue not yours.
Just make sure that you remove all confidential information from the server for your own protection.

well my canceled server is on day 14 and still not shut down. And the bad part is I am still receiving emails all day long about them not being able to be delieved or something...Very annoying...

Do what I do. Write to Support and have them unplug the machine and remove it from the IP monitoring.

yeah I have asked them a few times with no luck...hopefully this time they will...they do tend to get annoying lol

I had that request done prior it went to accounting when it was still my server. Of course, I did remove all the sites contents and programs I installed on it..
I guess if it is their server now, it is their responsibility.. nothing much you could do, I supposed.

Since you've got it in writing that we're cancelling your server on the 27th of january you shouldn't get charged extra. We just haven't gotten to the point of physically disconnecting the server. There are many links in the cancellation chain.

Contact the abuse department and tell them you're being spammed by one of their servers

lol nah I like this company to much, I just didnt need the server anymore. But if I ever do need a server I will come back here in the future.
I got an email this morning they did something so lets hope it is fixed. Also one thing that buged me was that he said he couldnt SSH in, there must not be a good communication line because I gave directions on how to get into the server using SSH....oh well...later fellas
