I'm fairly new to this, and have only had experiance with an Ensim panel and am wondering if someone could give me some much need help!

I think I've messed my DNS stuff up pretty good and can't seem to get anything to resolve... Here are my settings:

WHM Server Setup -

Primary Nameserver: ns1.servermatrix.com
Secondary Nameserver: ns2.servermatrix.com

Resolver Configuration -

Primary: 127.0.0.1
Secondary: 216.185.111.10
Third: 69.93.40.163

I set up an IP-based account but cannot access it using the address (IP). I haven't changed my domain pointer yet until I've figured thias out so I'm trying to access it using the IP instead.

And... I set up a name-based site and can access it at 69.xx.xx.xxx/~sitename/ but when I use the domain name it takes me to my root server login screen. My welcome email told me that my shared IP address was 172.xx.xx.xx but when I was trying to get a DNS entry on the nameservers the tech staff said it was an internal machine IP and couldn't be used. How do I determine what address to use?

I have set up DNS zones for ns1.servermatrix.com, ns2.servermatrix.com, my hostname and 127.0.0.1

Have I done anything too screwed up and how can I fix this mess???

Thanks,
Jack

If you are accessing the site via IP then it will not require any DNS set up for it. So it seems that the problem you are facing has nothing to do with DNS but the account creation process itself and the binding to the said IP address.

Firstly, were all the IPs which you were allocated added to the IP pool in WHM ? If not, they will not function.

If it is working, SSH into your machine and check your httpd.conf file to see that the IP is properly linked to the site and the path is correct.
