When I first transferred my site from Alabanza, the SSL cert was copied successfully. Due to some reasons, I later terminated the site and copied it for a second time. There was no error but I soon found out that SSL cert was not installed at all.
I tried to install it at WHM but after pasting the key/cert, it said I must first use OpenSSL to regen the key. I do not know what to do at all and can't seem to understand the Thawte guides. I agreed to pay $75/hour to the Tech and have them installed it for me. It has been 12 hours and still not done. I called up the Tech and they said it can be done only tomorrow (different time zone).
I wonder if anyone can give me a step-by-step guide to get it done? And I can quickly cancel the order and save $75.

Attempting to verify your certificate.....
This key file is encrypted with a password. You must use openssl to decrypt this key first!
openssl rsa -in <original key file> -out <new key file>
I am having problem with this part. How do I upload the original key file and to which directory? What should I name the old and new key file?

I never did SSL in WHM/Cpanel before or even in Linux but you did mentioned that the SSL worked the first time you transferred the site but it failed after you delete the site and tried the transfer again.
So it means that the transfer was initially successful. Is there a probably that when you deleted the account, the certificate for that site still resides on the WHM/CPanel server which prevented another copy to overwrite it the second time you do the transfer ?
If that is the case, you could use the SSL Administration module in WHM to see if you can track that certificate and perhaps delete it and attempt a 3rd transfer.

No, there is nothing in the SSL Manager.

I contacted the Tech and agreed to the $75 fee. It took them quite a few days to get it fixed. On the last day, the Tech called me and we were on the phone for about 45 minutes while the guy was trying to fix it.
Now it is working properly. Better slow than never.
BTW, I bought the 2-year Thawte cert at $245 while in WHM I can see a 2-year SecureSSL is sold at only $89. What is the difference besides the brand name?

You really should have done some research before you started buying your certificates.

You can get a GeoTrust cert for only $25/year. And you probably could have found someone here to guide the installion of it for you for free or for cheap (like me). It is really a simple process and takes all of like 15 minutes.

Yes the GeoTrust certs are great - at least on par with the SecureSSL ones. No problems with them and easy to set up.
The ordering process is fully automated so you get the cert in 15 minutes, instead of waiting days/weeks like with Thawte and some others.
If you're still interested in the differences between the SecureSSL and Thawte certs, you can find more information about them at:
http://www.securessl.co.uk/
I have not personally used them, though. So have nothing to report. But check out the GeoTrust ones.

When I tried to install the cert in WHM, it said that my key was encrypted and I need to decrypt it using OpenSSL. I posted a message in the forum but nobody answered.
At $278/2yr, GeoTrust seems to be more expensive.

So this issue has been resolved by SM now, can you confirm this? Or is it still outstanding?

Nah - as Olternit mentioned above, you can get it for just $25/year if you do some research. Hint: I won't name the company here for obvious reasons...

Can you PM me? I bought the Thawte cert at $225/2yr and now they have increased the renewal fee to $299. I am not going to pay for this.

I've done a bit of looking. I know 1 server company did have that offer, but now they're up to $49 (+tax). Is there another place still offering this that anyone knows of? I've looked, but not found.
I guess $49 isn't gonna kill me, but I hate to spend any more than I have to!
Did I miss out on this deal, or is there another one somewhere
At the same time.... I've found something called "ChainedSSL" for $19.95 ...anyone know anything about them? Anything funky that should be avoided?
Thanks for any advice anyone can give!

I found a location where they mentioned it's only for low volume, low transaction value. That's not what I'm looking for.
I guess I'll just stick with the GeoTrust cert!
