I have just ordered FloodGuard. I have not used it before.
1) How do you know if FloodGuard is installed?
2) How do you know if it is working effectively?
3) Is there a web-based monitoring interface or something?
4) If FloodGuard is installed, do I need to edit the configuration of APF?

You probably just have to take their word for it that it is enabled.
There is no changes you need to do for your APF as flood guard protects you even before the packet reaches your server.

lol, like the saying goes "Just cause you don't see it, doesnt mean it isn't there", but i would like to know if in the future there will be a way to know Floodguard is working... like a email whenever you are attacked.. or atleast something in orbit saying,
The following ips are currently protected by floodguard:
xxx.xxx.xxx.101
xxx.xxx.xxx.102 ,etc
Just so when i have doubts i can read that and just know i'm protected lol

We wanted to roll the DoS protection to our customers as soon as possible, so we're still looking into different ways to allow subscribers to interact with the FloodGuard.
It may be in the form of exported FloodGuard graphs (of your protected IP space), or an automated E-mail based report.
We are still in development on this, and your input will be appreciated.
Thanks!

I like the graph options for the day-to-day and probably an email alert when flood guard kicks into action and when the flood is over.

Both of those options sound great! I'd be happy with just an email, but the graphs would be nice to watch during an attack so we can feel warm and fuzzy inside that we're protected

Graphs are good and so are e-mails..
Keep the flow of information coming

The information is definetly good!
As it stands now, I could be catching a bucketload of DOS traffic and not know it as our server is protected.
Now I have no idea if this floodguard ever works as I'll never be seeing any results of it.
So if you can get any kind of status read out, that would definetly help as Floodguard becomes more visible to the admin

Anybody know if SM is still planning on adding some type of FG statistics or some type of monitoring so we can see the results of how it is working? Or have they just dropped that idea completely?

I'd like that too.
Might be even better if you can change some of the settings (like feeding it new data on an attack it missed)

I'd love exported FloodGuard graphs...
But this thread has gone really quiet

The new free system-wide (Everybody gets it) DDoS system (that replaces floodguard as I understand it) will have realtime reporting for a small fee.
Alternatively, if you don't want to pay, you still get notifications of what's going on, only they're notifications, not real-time reporting.

I'm HTTP Flooded since yesterday, so probably it's not a good idea to get FloodGuard right now as it won't help much..
Will the new system be free? Should I wait, or take FloodGuard?

The new system will be free.

It should be live on every single server by the end of october, with the realtime reporting going live in november.
