Question about restore a backup in different Ensim versions.

Please, I just need to be sure about if I can restore a sites backup from Ensim 4.0.3 to Ensim 4.1.

Any explanation in this respect, will be very grateful!,

I had the same question for cPanel and I tried it on a test account and it worked. It seems all a backup does is a tar.gz to the raw files, so it didn't make any difference which version.

Hope this helps. I suggest making a test account on a sub-domain or something and backing it up and trying between versions on the other server(s).

I did this few times and there were no issues except once I had to turn off majordomo on the 4.0.3 server for that site and then the restore on 4.1 went fine and I could turn majordomo back on. I think you will find threads about this issue here at this forum.

You can always perform the restore of backup on new server and until it does not pass ok, you do not change the DNS records. This way it does not influence the functionality of the website.

From Ensim v3.5 and onwards, with whatever version version you are restoring site backups into, as long as you have all hotfixes installed then any site backup from version 3.5 will install into a later version server with no problems.

Greatly appreciated. Merry Christmas.

Can you tell me if with MySql everything is OK too?

Hi Penguin, Merry Christmas!!

Thank's a lot for your help.

Please, with MySql, do I need to have special cares?

Merry X-mas.

If the databases were created normally from the control panel then no.

If they were hand created by root, then yes.

If the site domain is almost at quota, then it is possible to corrupt the database, so make sure none of your domains get that close to their quota limit.
