Full Version: Does EV1 actually know this product?

When I first started using a VPS from Ev1 I had several major issues including logging in to find my server was reset to the initial config (no sites) on 3 occasions. I finally locked all IP's out except my own using hosts.allow and hosts.deny. Ev1 however was still able to access the VPS though.

I have gone about 5 months without any probs. I have not done ANY config changes or updates. Now I start getting email timeouts and login to see whats up...cannot access any thing but the virtuozzo menu. Contact support and they "restored" the control panel. Now I cannot access my sites by FTP even after changing the password in the control panel. My Drweb antivirus is now not installed and when i go to try and install it i am given an error saying the update service is not available and that the virtual must be misconfigured. I keep opening tickets only to have them closed without ANY resolution. Going on 4 days now without any consistent effort whatsoever to reach resolution on EV1's end. This is especially perplexing considering the fact that this has happened out of the blue. I have never had a server reconfigure itself. I am a systems engineer and support and design VMWare infrastructure environments of linux (SUSE and Slackware) virtuals that are used in development and production environments and have NEVER had a single issue once they are deployed. What is going on here? And why is the level of support so below par on these "servers".

I chose this product because I only host a few clients sites but still wanted a "server" product. I have about 6 sites on the box that generate maybe 1 GB in traffic a month

virtuozzo is not the easiest thing in the world to use. Very few techs have access to the customer hardware nodes, and simply rely on the VZPP, and the shell info that you give them to login. If they restored the VPS, it was probably done via VZPP, hopefully restored from backup, and not a fresh install. If the VZPP does not install correctly, without access to the hardware node there is not much the tech can do.

I will PM you a little more info on how to resolve this issue.
