I have some problem with a domain on my server (Plesk 8.1,RHEL 4,I use ev1servers' DNS), for which I am using ev1servers nameservers. E-mail seems to work, I can receive and send it, but when I try using dnsreport, I get this error:

Trying to connect to all mailservers:

mail.mydomain.com. - 66.98.xxx.xxx [Could not connect: Could not receive data: Operation timed out.]
[Note that if your mailserver takes over 30 seconds to respond, our test will timeout, even though real mailservers will wait longer]

The server's resolv.conf contains just

nameserver 207.218.245.135
nameserver 207.218.247.135

Also, look at this report from dnsstuff.com:

ERROR: I could not complete a connection to any of your mailservers!

mail.demigod.nu: Timed out [Last data sent: [Did not connect]]

What could be causing this?

Most likely it's an issue with your firewall if everything else checks out and works okay.

Hello,

already tried turning it down, but no luck. I use eth0's suggested apf rules for Plesk.

Thanks to all the people that helped me in chat, made_of_storm and eth0, I could fix it.

I just replaced the values in resolv.conf with

nameserver 207.218.192.39
nameserver 207.218.192.38

And that did it!

Thanks guys!

Edit: dnsreport is still returning an error, for some reason:

[Could not connect: Could not receive data: Operation timed out.]
[Note that if your mailserver takes over 30 seconds to respond, our test will timeout, even though real mailservers will wait longer]
