and rebuilt apache manually with the additional option but didnt work any ideas.
Im running php-5.1.6
I did..
cd /home/cpapachebuild/buildapache/php-5.1.6
./configure --prefix=/usr --with-xml --enable-bcmath --enable-calendar --enable-ftp --enable-magic-quotes --with-mysqli --with-mysql=/usr --enable-discard-path --with-pear --enable-sockets --enable-track-vars --with-zlib –-enable-inline-optimization
make

all you did was configure php5 with it ; make ; make install. You need to figure out how to rebuild easyapache with this option. Perhaps passing it as an argument to easyapache?
try "/scripts/easyapache –-enable-inline-optimization" Then let it do a bunch of compiling things, and then a bunch of numbers will come up. Hit 7, then enter. Then a little window should come up, use the right arrow to go to exit, and hit enter. It will ask if you want to save changes... yes... then it will compile for quite a while.
give that a try. Let us know what you find out.
