Full Version: Email: Delete default inbox

I missed setting :fail: on an account's default address and now there's over 100,000 emails in the inbox. I've searched on how to remove these, and found answers. Unfortunately if I go to /home/username/mail there isn't an inbox to delete! So I'm not sure what to do.

The (basic) structure is:
./
../
cur/
sitename.com
new/
tmp/

Any suggestions?

Here's my hunch (someone can tell us if I'm right).

If you are using IMAP you get this output:

QUOTE
./
../
cur/
sitename.com
new/
tmp/

If you are not using IMAP you get this output:

QUOTE
./
../
inbox
sent-mail
sent-mail-jan-2006
trash

Since you are seeing option one, just delete the contents of the new/ directory. Each file is an email. Once an email has been viewed by the user it moves to the cur/ directory. Maybe via the tmp/ directory? Anyway you should see 100,000 files in one of these directories and clearing them out should put you at starting over.

Thanks for the reply!

I never received an email notification. I found the answer someplace else and forgot about this post. Sorry!
