Hello,

I am trying to migrate an Ensim box to Plesk.
I am using the migration tool provided in the web interface.

For every domain I get this error

Failed deployment of mail user smmsp@mydomain.tld

Execution of /opt/psa/bin/mail --create smmsp@mydomain.tld -passwd -mailbox true failed with return code 1.
Stderr is
An error occured during mailname creation: Unable to update the mail name properties:
The password is incorrect, use at least 5 characters. The password should not contain mail name as its part.
Only Latin characters, no dictionary words (optional).

Is the smmsp user important to Plesk ?
If it is, is there a workaround for Plesk to close its eyes on that problem or for me to avoid changing password for each user ?

By the way I've got real users in the same situation. It would be great if I could migrate without worrying about the password length issue.

Many thanks

I think the migration tool requires a certain password lenght. Just as plesk does. There maybe a way to turn it off but I am not sure. I would look into the docs @ plesk.com maybe it can offer some insight. Also if your interested I offer plesk migration services.

Hi,

Thank you for your answer. I had a look in the Plesk docs but the content looks more oriented to the graphical interface and button explanation than migration tips or shell tricks. I am missing something ?

I have to figure out what the smmsp user is used for as well.

Checked for logs that might show an error of why it failed?

I looked at the /var/spool/mail folder.
The smmsp user is a symlink pointing to a non existent file.

I conclude that the smmsp user is useless because it never existed.

Thanks.

Possible but I was more thinking along the lines of the logs in /var/local/psa they should contain more info about why PMM is failing.

Oh thanks for the tip

I thought the migration log files where only stored in /tmp.
