Currently there is a problem within Cogent's core network in Houston that is causing increased latency across our Cogent links (most noticeably to European destinations). Cogent currently has Engineers on-site repairing the issue. The expected time of resolution is 8-9pm EST. I apologize for any inconvenience this has caused and I will update this thread with more information once it becomes available.

UPDATE:
Cogent is still working on the problem. They have adjusted the expected time of resolution to 12am EST. In the meantime, we have routed around the issue and continue to monitor the situation. I will again update this thread when more information becomes available.

UPDATE:
Cogent has indicated that maintenance is complete and routes are beginning to converge back into a natural state. We continue to monitor this as routes reconverge.

RESOLUTION:
Routes appear to now be stable through Cogent and latency is again normal. At this time we have removed our changes and this issue now appears to be resolved.
