I have a RAQ4 and have a problem with my sendmail.
Two days ago, I noticed that SMTP was down. I tried to restart sendmail, but had no success. I contacted EV1 support, and they told me: "I'm not entirely sure what caused it, but there was an error in your configuration file for AutoAliasRebuild. I've fixed it and restarted sendmail."
After this, while normal mails are received and sent, the forms on all my domains stopped to work and were not sent out.
I contacted again support, and after over 6 hours and some trouble tickets they finally told me "These errors are being caused because you have upgraded Sendmail but havent recreated the sendmail.cf file.

Here here the output of the error that shows the cause for this issue.

However, I did not upgrade sendmail or did anything else on the server, all happened suddenly. I told this to EV1 support, but did not get any answer yet.

This problem is causing me a lot of troubles, as my customers are not receiving orders, registrations and so on... is there anybody who can help me please?

Please note that I don't know anything about sendmail configuration. A form on one of my domains reports this error, if it can help:

The trouble (not limited to forms but SMTP issues too) has been caused by the RaQ4-All-Security-2.0.2-17084.pkg which was automately installed by my firewall package last night. In fact it is "Sendmail Security Update 2.0.2". Is'nt there anybody who can help me in solving this trouble? It's urgent!

Hmm, the problem appeared on two old raq 4 servers after installing the 10-10-06 Sun Cobalt patch. I carefully commented out the offending line in the sendmail.cf file. One server's log at /var/log/mail log showed the line as number 193, the other server showed it as 196.

So far, things appear to be working after the change.

BTW, what's up with support? I haven't called them in a few months, but holy moley, the guy had such a strong accent (asian or indian?) that I could not understand him. However, after 15 mins on the phone, he said I should go on line and put in a ticket!

Support did not solve the trouble as it is a custom modify. I had to hire an external technician who solved me the trouble fast.

Exactly the same error messages as original post. Raq4r. Sendmail stopped running after 10-10-06 patch from Sun. Thank you!

To get sendmail working for normal emails if you edit the config file and comment out the line that has AutoAliasRebuild in (around line 193) and then stop and restart your mail server.

This will allow normal email to work, it is not a proper fix and will not fix forms or php mail functions, I still trying to figure out how to do that, but as yet nobody is admitting there is a problem

after learning so much from this forum as a newbie (still new though), this is my first attempt to contribute.

encountered this problem. here is how i got rid of it.

1. Install the latest sendmail patch from http://www.solarspeed.net/downloads/index.php (this is give an error in maillog for incompatible .cf file)

2. Go to /etc/mail/, see if there are any old sendmail files. For me, I "cp sendmail.cf.backup sendmail.cf". This restored an old backup which I did sometime ago to the sendmail.cf file. Restarted sendmail (/etc/rc.d/init.d/sendmail restart) and everything seems to be back in action.

Note: Hope the above helps. Sendmail has been up for an hour. Long tem stability, performance and security unknown (any experts to advise on this?). I will be getting rid of the RAQ soon (big pain to maintain).
