Full Version: c:\inetpub\servers - Can anyone explain what it does?

Hi,

Can anyone explain the role of the c:inetpubservers folder and the relationship to c:inetpubvhosts folder?

When we view the 'Servers' folder in Windows it has a series of sub-folders in it. Eg;

1023
1022
1021
1020
1019
..

We can see that the folders sort of tally with the c:inetpubvhosts folder.

The problem we're seeing is that there seems to be a duplication of data between the servers and inetpub folder. In some cases, a site is duplicated in more than one 'servers' folder. Eg. 1020 and 1019. And access logs are being duplicated. In one case this is duplicating an access_log three times taking over 1.5Gb.

We're running Plesk 7.0.3.

Thanks.

I looked at this at one time, I vaguely recall what I discovered..........

They are symbolic links similar to what is done frequently in Linux, but not very offen in Windows. It is not a duplication, per se, but just another link to the same crap.

As for the implementation, I have absolutely no clue what it is for......

Plesk for Windows has too many Linux like things to make me confortable about it.........Why it runs the control panel on Apache, I'll also never know.....
