Hi,
I figured this was the best place to post my question even though it's more about spam than about plesk specifically. I'm running plesk 7.5.4.
One of my users (let's call him user01) recently complained about receiving someone else's spam. He forwarded the message to me and it was clearly addressed to another user (let's call him user02) on the same domain. User01's information was nowhere to be found in the headers but the message ended up in his box.
A search through the logs revealed that this message had been sent to user02 first, then about 8 other users including user01. It seems that the message was sent to these 10 users but the header remained as if it was being sent only to user02. I don't really understand how this is possible. Further review of the logs showed that this has happened several times with different users so I'm assuming it's a spam tactic. If anyone could explain this to me I'd be very grateful.
I also have a second question, not specifically related to the first. I recently enabled MAPS on my server using spamhaus. It's working great - I'm down to about 15 spam messages per day from over 30 (combined with using spam assassin). Is MAPS activity logged anywhere? I'm not entirely familiar with how this feature works so at what point is the MAPS server referenced when mail comes in? Can I see a list of rejected email?
Thanks,
Elle
