After talking with a sales rep on the phone and confirming that a new VPS will come with Plesk 8 and mysql 4.1 - I ordered and got a new VPS with Plesk 7.5.4, php 4.3 and mysql 3.23. What a disapointment! Not very welcoming!

I usually don't make a big stink out of not having the latest and greatest of every package but is there a reason to use mysql 3.23 from 3 years ago??

EV1Servers team, please help me resolve this issue. My customer ID is ES-227493.

Thanks,
eth00
MySQL 3 is not that old, it is still in use and still being updated. Until Plesk version 8 which was JUST released the only official version that plesk worked with was mysql 3. You can thank the people at plesk for being slow on updating a lot of that.

As far as contacting management your best bet is going to be to contact customer service and get ahold with somebody to see if they can help you. I do not have any VPS and am not familiar with ev1's setup but I want to say they do not have any Plesk 8 setups yet - though I could be very wrong on that!

to confirm what you are saying and what I suspected:

EV1servers does not offer plesk 8 on their VPS plans! you will recieve only plesk 7.5.4 with old versions of php and mysql.

Since I didn't appreciate the way my issue was handled I have cancelled my account and am leaving to another hosting company. Over two days and more than a few calls, transfers, and tickets lead to a dead-end. Sorry EV1servers!

However, I must say that when I signed up I recieved the activation email within an hour and the server seem to be very stable and sturdy. I was just wondering what will happen when my server will be up and running with several sites and every minute is critical....

I am sorry that your experience was not what you hoped. Our VPS packages do not come with Plesk 8 at the moment. I am not sure who had told you that but if you happen to remember the name of the representative that gave you that information we can correct them to ensure this issue does not happen again. I am sorry to hear you are leaving but wanted to let you know that should you had stayed and you felt the situation was not being handled properly you have several options:
