[root@vps etc]# cat /proc/version
Linux version 2.4.20-021stab028.3.777-smp (st@current.eng.sw.ru) (gcc version 2.96 20000731 (Red Hat Linux 7.3 2.96-110)) #1 SMP Wed Feb 2 21:32:05 MSK 2005

it seems my VPS is on Red Hat 7.3.

read from http://ev1servers.net/support/Urchin.aspx
i have options to install only on RedHat 9 or EHEL 3.0, so how am i going to do it?

btw, i personally can't believe Ev1 is still using Redhat 7.3, i thought everybody has stopped using it since 2 or 3 years ago?

Unfortunately, ev1 no longer supports RH7x. I talked with them on the IRC chat channel (irc.ev1servers.net #ev1servers) and they confirmed it.

I don't know why it's what you got on your VPS, but *shrugs* it's what I have on an old server and can't get urchin on it either. This reply may be too late, but perhaps it'll save someone else some trouble. icon_sad.gif

run
cat /etc/redhat-release

that will tell you what version you have
eth00
Part of that is the slow uptake of VZ for the more recent OS. If you got one of the first VPS they were running rh7 because I believe at the time thats all that was offered officially.

As far as urchin I would try the rh9 and see if it works, it probably will and if not you may be able to hack it.

Personally though I would avoid urchin since google purchased them they no longer are developing the software and do not offer support/sales of it. The only reason ev1 still is because they probably have a lot of left over licenses or have some sort of a special deal.
