cpbackup error PWCACHEENT

I am running the cpbackup to a remote server the funny thing is the servers ftp service is always up and cpbackup starts to transfers my sites and suddenly it gives this error:
Can't call method "login" on an undefined value at /scripts/cpbackup line 409, line 42.
Can anyone tell me what this error means?

sounds like the place you trying to upload is down..or you are blocked from the firewall to access it (local or remote).
