Full Version: Anyone move from CPanel to Plesk?

I'm curious to see if users have successfully migrated from CPanel to Plesk? I'm currently wanting to evaluate Plesk8 but I was unable to get the Migration Manager to work properly and was hesitant to let SWSoft login to my current server to see if it's "upgradable".

So, with that, does anyone have any experiences moving from CPanel to Plesk?

Also those who have moved, were there any features that were lost that you found important to your customer base?

Thanks,

I have some years now working with plesk, and i havent done such a task.

I would recommend Sw-Soft to do the job for you, as noone else will take full resposability for what could go wrong on the process.

PMM(Plesk Migration Manager) isnt a mature software, thats why you most likely didnt got it to work, ask EV1 to request Sw-Soft an Case Investigation for the migration, they should be able to study your box, and tell you whether is or isnt possible to migrate.

Ask for Aaron Conklin to get in touch with them, hes an awesome cool man, and really open to help clients.

I have been on a 9-month mission to move away from Plesk to CPanel servers (I have a lot of servers). Plesk is a very stable control panel that can handle a lot of traffic, but if something goes wrong its bloody hard to fix, unlike cpanel, if something goes wrong I can usually go into the /scripts directory and run a fix-it script and it comes back, or at very worst, i rerun upcp and all is back to normal again. Plus I hate the way Plesk is so slow to adapt, for instance, Plesk 8 finally features mysql 4.

plesk features mysql 4 since 7.5.4, yes its little slow adapting to new software.

about bloody hard to fix, i dont find it that way, i have to agree that fixing cpanel some times can be easyer, but still i think that plesk is a really easy to use and maintain control panel.

one thing that I noticed is that clients really like the Plesk control panel for its window-esque interface.

I done the manual move from cpanel to plesk, took some time but it worked.

Just had to make some changes in plesk to work. like global variables, safe mode and a few other tweeks so all sited worked. Used htaccess files to fix it.
