Your system contains some unknown version numbers. Please run Rootkit Hunter with the --update parameter or fill in the contact form

I did run

But I still get that message, How can I completly uninstall rootkithunter
so I can install it again

Thanks

PS where is the forum search
dynamicnet
Greetings:

If you just upgraded to CentOS 4.3 or RedHat equiv, then the author may not have the MD5 sum database updated yet.

Thank you.

You can simply download the new version from http://www.rootkit.nl/projects/rootkit_hunter.html. Install this version and it will overwrite the old one.

As dynamicnet, stated the md5sums and sha1sums for your current version may not be included in rkhunter 1.2.8. If you are horrified by this, you can email them via their website www.rootkit.nl and inquire about this.

Thanks,

Me to
I searched everywhere but could not find any info
on uninstalling root kit hunter

I just have a couple of questions

Application scan
Vulnerable applications: 5

Does Rootkit Hunter keep a file
of what programs they are somewhere?

Your system contains some unknown version numbers. Please run Rootkit Hunter
with the --update parameter

Is this Rootkit Hunterr version numbers they mean?
or other operating system programs like bind, cron etc?

I reinstalled again over my copy off Rootkit Hunter
but it doesn't write over the config file

I want to completely uninstall and install again fresh

PS could a admin email me I have a username from when I first got our server years ago
that I cannot log in with because of switching isp's and cannot reset the password,
I have been trying to contact someone in charge of the board but never get a response
including the latest try earlier today

also see my post above (Knight) after that,
for some reason that username can log in but cannot post
can someone explain why permissions were screwed with?
Catalyst
To uninstall:
CODE
rm -Rf /usr/local/bin/rkhunter
rm -Rf /usr/local/etc/rkhunter.conf
rm -Rf /usr/local/rkhunter
unSpawn

To combat this I've made a script and released it to the RKH mailinglist and LQ.
I usually don't promote other fora but in this case: more info at LQ.
