Full Version: Urchin stops reading log file

I set up an Urchin profile for a website on my webserver and it worked fine for a few days. Then it stopped reading the log file.

On the Configuration->Scheduler->Task Scheduler page it shows a Status of 'Pending'.

When you run the task manually, it looks like it is trying (the blue bar at the bottom keeps flashing) but the progress never moves off 0%.

It just keeps trying over and over again.

I have boosted the DB table limit t0 60,000. This has no effect.

If I create a brand new profile and run it on the exact same log file, it reads it without problem, so it doesn't seem to be a problem with the log file. In fact, this happened previously, and I 'solved' the problem by deleting the profile and re-creating it. However, a few days later, the problem re-occured.

I have several other profiles on the same server that continue to work without problem.

Any ideas much appreciated.

Thanks: John

I will have our webtechs take a look at this thread and you should have a response soon. Thank you for choosing EV1servers.net for your web hosting solutions.

Lots of questions for you but they should help us to see what's going on.

First is there any running urchin pid's running on the system that are maxing out the cpu usage? (running "top" should show you).

Secondly what happens when you try the run now feature in the scheduler? Be sure to hit the tab that has the more info and see what it says.

Thanks

No. I don't see any urchin pids on the whole "top" page. vmstat also shows low load on the system (approx 50%);

Secondly what happens when you try the run now feature in the scheduler? Be sure to hit the tab that has the more info and see what it says.

The Task Progress bar show no progress, Status shows 'pending' and the 'details' pain is blank.

The status bar of the window shows that something is running over and over... It looks like it's trying to load the task results over and over, and it says 'Done' at the end of every cycle (this is in the browser status bar), but it fails each time.

By the way, I have several other profiles set up and they work fine.

If I completely delete the profile and recreate it, it also works fine for awhile, on exactly the same log file.

Deleting the log source and recreating it does not solve the problem. You have to delete the profile.

I have the same problem with one of my sites. Urchin stopped updating the stats for it a week ago without me realising it. Other sites' stats are working fine. If I figure it out, I'll post a solution here.

I'm having exactly the same problem on one of my boxes. It happend the first time ~ 6months ago, now ~10-15 accounts are affected.
