I am considering moving up to the Intel Dual Xeon 2.4 GHz Package but am unsure how to migrate my domain xlforum.net over to it which is currently running on the Intel Pentium 4 2.4 GHz Package.

I have religiously backed up my domains using the Plesk backup utility and place the backups on the ev1servers backup server.

My main concern is to insure that my xlforum.net domain unavailable for the shortest time period.

My questions at this time are:

1. Do I just move the most recent backup to the new server using the FTP UPLOAD utility in Plesk.

2. How/when do I switch the DNS entry to point to the new server? Should I just delete the old DNS record and then create a new one pointing to the new IP address or is there a gracefull way of doing this?

I just attempted to move files over from backups.ev1servers.net using the Plesk FTP Upload utility and received this error:

Unable to fetch dumps list from ftp server: ftp_filemng:error:cURL execution failed:socket error:110

System error 115: Operation now in progress

Best is:

1.- Get a new server and setup new DNS in server
2.- Use migration manager to transfer accounts from old server to new server.
3.- Change DNS in domains to new DNS
4.- Change DNS records in old server to point to new server

get a new server, move the script and the db. get all up running in the new server.
shutdown the forum for a few..
transfer the latest db..

make a redierct in the old server..
get the new up ..
