Full Version: daily cron kills server.... help?
The Planet Forums > Control Panels > cPanel/WHM

Ooook - so everynight when /etc/cron.daily runs - the server doesn't crash - but it does have a high load ranging from 10.0 - 30.0

Which isn't enough to take it down - but it does lock up some services, such as cPanel or mail.

I have other servers with the exact same setup as this one, even with MORE accounts on them - and they operate perfectly.

Any thoughts on what I should start looking at? I kinda get the feeling it may be a hardware issue - since everything else seems to be running fine.

EV1 looked at it too and said the server works perfectly. Other than this high load.

*shrugs*

go through the cron.daily jobs manually, and see where it hangs for you, then go to another server, and type the same command and see if it takes as long.

also compare the cron.daily scripts. There could be small differences.

other than that, perhaps a memory test?

thats about all i can think of... let me know how it turns out.
