With cpanel as the control panel and Redhat linux enterprise on a ev1 dedicated server, where do I download and how to I install the following:

MySQL 4.0.22 or later
zend optimizer
GD library (2.0.15 +)

I'm a novice at this, so simple instructions would be great. someone told me to use the "up2date -i " command, but I have no idea what this is and how to use it. I need step by step detailed instructions on where to download and how to install EACH of the above on my dedicated server.

Thank you in advance to anyone who can help me.

mysql 4 should be installed by default, you can install zend using /scripts/installzendopt or somthing like that and GD is already installed you just need to compile apache with it, you can use /scripts/easyapache to do so or use the update apache in WHM.

I don't know if you mean this basic, but... Install "putty" on your home machine and read up on how to connect via ssh to get a shell console / terminal.

In your WHM you should be able to update everything, system, cpanel and all that, try that first and set the updates to "release" to get the latest updates that have been tested a little bit, the next thing is "stable", it's the most tested.
