I did a chat with a guy in sales earlier to ask about upgrading my backup space on backups.ev1servers.net,...and he directed me to use a TT to get this done..no problem. I did just that (id# 1098307). Somebody just closed it and said:

just to clarify further .. I tried the service order for backups and if I try to use my existing username it says it's taken. I don't want to add another backup account. I want to make my 20GB and 50GB and keep the same username. You know ..now that I think about it ..this happened to me before a year ago when I went from 10GB to 20GB. was like pulling teeth.!!! but it's prolly just me loosing my mind.

I would suggest emailing customer care and seeing what they can do for you, maybe at the same time do a suggest about them to changing their procedures. I imagine they do not have many people request an upgrade like this.

doesn't look like it's just me:(

i would think they get this request all the time since there is a category for it in the TT section. But when people add servers or their servers fill up they need more BU space right? why buy 50Gb when you only need 10GB?? that's why we upgrade.

I've had to do this a couple of times. It couldnt be done. For me they said you cant upgrade existing backup account, instead you need to order a new one with the amount of gigabytes you need, then sign off your old one. I know, it sucks icon_razz.gif

hell that will work!!!! I am an idiot!! I was think of getting another and hanging on to the old one as well and then thought ..about the size of my backups and not wanting to slit them up across bu accounts. This way ..I can just get a 50GB and cancel the other. Then I just edit all my cron jobs with the new username!!! thanks for the solution!!!

np icon_smile.gif before cancelling your old account, remember to transfer your files to your server and then back them up to new backup account (if you have like important monthly / weekly backups you may need still).

We can upgrade your current backup solution, I apologize for the miscommunication from before. If you would like, you can email me your account information. I will make sure that everyone is aware of the process so that we do not make this mistake again.

I can be reached at aaron@ev1.net.
