I am ABSOLUTELY GREEN when it comes to anything about SSL let alone SSL certificate installation. And I've been told by EV1 support that they won't help because they don't support QuickSSL. Nice. NOT.
SO - I hope someone out there can help.
I have deduced that I need to use the Apache +ModSSL OpenSSL QuickSSL installation. I have been going through the docs (one on EV1 and the other on GeoTrust) to try and figure them out before actually doing anything. This is where I'm running into problems.
Question 1) On step 2, it says to create an RSA key then there's a blank space like there should be something there. Then below the space, it says "if you have a different path, cd to your server's private key directory".
SO - how do I find this private key directory, and what is the command I'm supposed to enter that obviously isn't showing up on the documentation?
Question 2) On step 3, it says you can generate a key that is encrypted or not. BUT it says that when the server boots up, you have to enter a passphrase. Where do you enter the passphrase? Based on the other set of instructions (after you get the certificate), it says to restart your apache server with a specific command from telnet - so when the server restarts, obviously I'll be booted out of telnet...... so how do I enter the passphrase?
Question 3) On Step 1 of the "installing a certificate", it says to copy the certificate to the server directory where you store certificates. How the heck am I supposed to know this? How can I find this out?
Question 4) On Step 2 of the same doc, it says to open httpd.conf - where can I find this file????
HELP!
Thanks much for any help you give.
