Full Version: Kernel Config for Load Balanced Servers

Hi there!

Today we just ordered some load balanced servers (2 * 2.0Ghz Dual Xeon with SCSI), and was wondering if anyone had a working kernel .config they could send me.

Although we have had an SMP server for a couple of years, I have never compiled a SMP kernel before (although it seems to be only one option to enable it in the kernel!), but the part that has me slightly worried is scsi support. I have seen eth00's guides and they are nothing short of excellent, however will these .configs work for the new machines?

Thanks.

Sandy.

The kernel config for such systems is not that different; however on our xeons we usually scale the configs to as little as possible to get slim, fast and low foot print on memory - kernels.

A .config file for it specific - i got it all wrapped up in a kernel build script that peaces the .config together from a module dependency script. So short answer; no dont got a .config for this but you could likely use eth00 howto then scale back on it a bit (it is a tad bloated).

Thanks for the reply rfxn. I was just being lazy and was hoping someone would have done the dirty work for me already!

Ill tinker, and if I get something relatively cut back and usable ill post it here.
Cheers.

As it stands im still waiting for these servers to be set up, 48 hours later. We have billed for them...

I don't really want to piss off anyone at the datacenter because I know I might need their help in the future and EV1 have seemed really nice to deal with in the past. Just kinda getting impatient! icon_smile.gif

Sorted now, thanks!
