Full Version: mydomain.com:8443 => plesk.evservers.net... How To Change?

I have Plesk Reloaded 7.5.4. When I try to go to mydomain:8443 it always tries to go to plesk.ev1servers.net. I am not sure where to change this so that it goes to MY server name, server01.mydomain.com, which relates to my primary IP. Anyone know how to fix this?

You need to set the hostname for your system. This thread should do the trick.

You may also want to have a look at this more general thread about setting up a server, because if you missed that one you likely missed some other things. Things that can be far more dangerous.

Why is it important? Because this morning alone I had to report 17 other people's machines which have become "owned" by some script kiddie, based upon SSH hack attempts against the lowly two servers I watch over. While a larger number than normal for me --it's usually 3-6 per day-- this was one day's total of hacked servers that were trying to break into mine.

I'm more amazed every day at how many servers out there are basically sitting open for anyone who wants to use as they wish. Many don't even have a firewall installed! I fear it's going to get much worse before it gets better. So many servers being managed by folks who have never done it before and don't have the resources we have around here on the forums.

I should have been more clear.

I already have my network file updated:

QUOTE
HOSTNAME=server01.mydomain.com
NETWORKING=yes
GATEWAY="xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx"
GATEWAYDEV="eth0"
FORWARD_IPV4="yes"

Any other ideas?

There are several places the hostname needs to be tweaked to get everything set up properly acidbox. That's why I suggested NightHawk's little hostname.sh script. Off the top of my head, /var/qmail/control/me, /var/qmail/control/locals (both for mail headers) /etc/sysconfigt/network, /etc/hosts, plus there's an entry in the PSA database that needs to be tweaked.

You can also set the hostname without doing a reboot with:
hostname bla.blabla.com

Then you need to set this up in the control panel too. Restart the panel just to be sure and try again. Should work.
