Hi All,

Well this is my first foray into using a dedicated server, and man am I lost.

I've rec'd my welcome e-mail from EV1Servers, and went through setting up CPanel -- but don't have a clue if I've done anything right.

I'd appreciate any information the experts here could provide as to what I need to do, and in what order. I'll go through the documents provided by EV1, but I guess one of my first questions is nameserver related.

My domain is currently registered with GoDaddy -- I don't need to transfer it here, do I? I should be able to set the name servers in the GoDaddy control panel to point to the nameservers provided by EV1 -- correct?

Thanks in advance.

Regards,

Mohammed

basically you can setup name servers on your own box.

first, you want to goto ev1 and request an additional ip for secondary name server.
then you want to goto go daddy, register your name servers for your domain

now go to cpanel and setup the domain on your server, when you have done that just create the NS records in the dns zone and your pretty much all set to go.

Hi Gary,

Thanks -- but unfortunately, this is still all "greek" to me.

I noticed that you offer this type of service -- initial server set-up. I think that in order for me to get going quickly, I need someone to do this for me. Is this something you would be willing to do? What information would I need to provide you?

I really would like to get this server going this weekend, if possible.

I look forward to hearing from you. You can also e-mail me on my personal address which is bhimji -at- yahoo -dot- com.

Thanks Gary.

Take care,

Mohammed
