What is a good free ftp program? I have one..but it keeps timing out on me so it annoys me. Ok yay Jordis is singing Dream on by aerosmith..gotta go watch..if anyone knows a good free ftp program

ws_ftp works fine and is free

Filezilla ... supports SFTP, and stays where it's installed, without bleeding over into your registry. FTP, FTP-TLS, FTP-SSL, FTP-SSL/TLS, sFTP, and an easy interface with Drag and Drop.

It's very similar, in fact, to the good ol' days of Cute-FTP where it was simple and easy, before GlobalScape started their funky shenanigans. Plus, it's free.

In my own experience I have found smart ftp
as a good free FTP program.
ws_ftp if pretty good too, but I don't know if you can get it free anymore.

In my own opinion I have been a fan of Cute FTP. I know the name and icon seem silly, but its really a well written program. If I had to spend money on an ftp program I would get Cute Ftp.

Used CuteFTP for years and when upgraded to most recent version had many problems with broken transfers of tens of thousands of files. Switched to WS_FTP, you need to wait for the tree to populate when transferring a lot of products but after that, it roars to completion.

We are using WS_FTP but have noticed in both WS_FTP and CuteFTP that we are not getting full records..

When we go into a directory on the server (or any directory) that contains tens of thousands of images, and select all to get a count, the software only displays 1998 items irrespective of actual quantity verified in directory via ssh. Yet WSFTP says its a server issue limiting return of records.

Is there a way to remove this restriction so we can display (and download) full directory?

Note: works fine in proftp but not pure ftp...
