In Urchin Profiles, Log Manager, Log Settings, Log File Path, If I browse for logs
to /usr/local/apache/domlogs/ I see nothing. If I put in the name of the log file here mydomain.com for instance it does not work.
The files are there, i have verified.
Please help... urchin is not reading or finding any of my logs.

uh.. this is not a valid path for my server. You work there... you coulda probably taken a look? no? heh this is nuts.
/var/log/httpd is valid... but it returns blanks in urchin admin as well.
/home/virtual/domain.com/var/log/httpd/*
if you put that type of path in where you browse for logs it will immediately assume this is a directory and changes it to:
/home/virtual/domain.com/var/log/httpd/*/
so, how is this suppose to help me? Are you actually trying this in an urchin admin or are you just guessing?
Thanks... but that was absolutely no help. Everything remains blank on the paths ive tried so far... including your suggestion.
I can do screenshots i guess.... since im obviously not being clear enough on this issue. but even those will be blank boxes for you to look at, not much to leave to the imagination.

Is that the best I can get here? I have a ticket that ev1 evidently has on hold since i have this forum post here. I guess they think I will find a solution here. Well nothing even close so far. I'd go elsewhere, but I can't. I cant go to urchin for support... because ev1 is the provider. So I'm stuck in the ev1 loop here and I'm still asking for help and it is taking way too long for this.
Urchin does not find my logs! It does not find anything. I can give the login info here, as I did in my ticket... if you wish to login and see how when you browse for a log file that all folders you can browse are blank. Both on IE and FF.
The install of urchin went smooth. Ev1 had to reset my license, but that was fast. I have been stuck at this same point since finishing the install, my ticket somehow isnt even worthy of a response. Here Ive gotten the equivalent... with unusable/unapplicable info.
Can anyone here help? is there someone here that understands our RH/cpanel server and can cite how another server with the same is configured? Thats all I need... someone to say "mine is set this way" or my log path is this and i put this in the file browser and it works. any useful response will be appreciated.

Sorry, I assumed you were running Ensim, but it's Cpanel + RHEL, right? When you say it "remains blank", do you mean that stats aren't generated or logs can't be found? The better the info you provide, the better the responses will be.
If logs are there but stats aren't generated, have you tried running /scripts/runstatsonce?
Tried accessing stats via Cpanel?

root@hosting [~]# /scripts/runstatsonce
This script requires cPanel 6.4.2 Build 11+
Urchin webserver is not running
Urchin scheduler is not running
1
==> cPanel Log Daemon version 22.0
==> Shared RRDTOOL support enabled
==> Ignoring lastrun files and running all stats now
==> cpanellogd will exit after stats have run
root@hosting [~]# /usr/local/urchin/bin/urchinctl restart
Urchin webserver is not running
Urchin scheduler is not running
Urchin webserver started on port 9999
Urchin scheduler started
and in cpanel x2 under webstats, urchin stats... the page is blank.
If you follow my steps as outlined in my first post here... logging into urchin at :9999 then going to profiles... etc etc.. log manager and browsing for a log file, every folder shows no contents... meaning blank windows with nothing in them. no matter what path i try its always blank. i dont know how else to explain this. blank. nothing. nadda. nill. gooseegg. zilch. zero. empty. without content.

still not enough information for you to know what i'm saying?
man i knew i should have posted screenshots. you cant do it here, ill pm the screenshots to you i guess.
this is so absurd, do you work with ev1 techs at all? you must be one... i couldnt imagine you not having access to the ticket system and our records. If you dont have enough information in any ticket on here, then you should be able to go find it out right? especially if a ticket is open simultaneously, then you have the access you need via our password authorization to our server on the same.

This was the fix.. courtesy ev1 David S.
In your WHM, you will need to login as root and put your password. Then under the " Basic cPanel/WHM Setup" there is an option called " Stats and Logs " You will find a line in there with this information: " Chmod value for raw apache log files (0640 is the default) " this should be 755. This allows urchin to read the files correctly. You will also need to login to the server as root and in the directory /usr/local/apache/ you will find a directory called domlogs. Type chmod 755 -R domlogs/ and then restart urchin. Once this is done urchin will be able to read the logs correctly. This should correct the problems with your current sites and adding new sites.
This did not fix cpanel urchin stats... it's still blank. i tried from x & x2 themes both blank.

finishining this up.
The reason why your urchin stats are not being generated is due to a configuration problem. If you go to " Statistics Software Configuration " in whm. You will see that urchin is not selected as one of the statistics programs. You need to check this option for cPanel to encorerate the urchin cgi files to generate the stats. Once you have done this then urchin will start to generate the stats on the next scheduled time it is set to run the stats.

Thanks... its very nice and works from all our domains.

Listen here snoot, dont be chiming in after its all said and done. If you havent gathered, you were of absolutely no help. You shouldn't have even posted anything.... wouldve been the same result without you.
Oh, you should change your quote from:
Never express yourself more clearly than you are able to think.
to
Never express yourself so clear that it makes my responses look stupid way in advance.

Why don't you be a chum and post these instructions you seem to have after the games over, if you mean the ones that come with the urchin package itself you gotta be kidding me. Nothing in there covers any of the issues i had. Let's see this magic document you speak of. Put your money where your mouth is and post something useful for a change.

Sorry if I seem an A Hole, but I have no tolerance for arrogant lines of crap and holding back on information for paying customers. Ev1 has a @#!@#!@#!@#!ty track record on our server and i came to the forum expecting and got the same. If i were the one paying (im not my partner is) for our server I'd have dropped it long ago. I think you guys put @#!@#!@#!@#!ed up builds on all your servers and never update those builds. So, whenever we have to have our server rebuilt we all must go through tons of fixes to get it to a point where we can support customers on it and it really really sucks to high heaven. I would NEVER EVER recommend you guys, 1. because of the builds. and 2. because of the support and how it drops off where you really need it.

... and some people wonder why they don't get help for free.

I could really care less what you think. Someone at ev1 gets paid to support the forums.... and we pay ev1. so the notion of free support is moot. Some people think that a fair amount of turn around time with no response is enough cause to question the support infrastructure of anything. If the people get upset cause of getting ragged on, then good... they deserved it. It doesnt matter if the customer is nice or not, theyre still one of your paying customers and youre obligated to support the systems that they use that you provide. If you dont then you are petty and cant take criticism of your shortcomings. If you had none, I'd have nothing but kind flowery words to say. But that's not reality. The reality is I'm not a kissass and I'm not going to discard what I see going on with the support system here just so some smartass might help me out.
All of this couldve been prevented if there was a post on here that addressed the issues... oh there is, because of me. im sure my torcher in using the forum will help out many in the future and you're welcome.

Does everyone on here have a smartass half-wit quote on their signature or what? If you're trying to presell yourselves as smartass snot nose techs it works great. Something witty about good service would be more fitting.

I don't ... I prefer to just make smartass replies to half-wits. ;-)

It's funny how when you call someone arrogant, all the arrogant fools come out of the woodwork to one-up the last guy who got called a spade and got cinched. Some backup arriving on the scene is all I gather, since there was no substinance to the comments what's the point. The comebacks are the equivalent of saying "Oh yea!, well you're dumb". hahaha you guys make me laugh
Yeah.. I suppose you guys are smarter than someone, somewhere? Even if the scope of what you know is quite narrow and spotty. I'm sure theres some poor malnourished 12 year old somewhere that you could win a spelling bee over and fill your need to feel superior.
The "clever quote" idea is a good concept, but poor choices are just annoying, it shows up in the post and if it has been proven to be a distortion of what this person represents I will call you on it. So, if you have a quote that indicates you are intelligent and you are found to be an imbecil then you should change it. Hope I broke that down enough.
Humor is the only acceptable replacement for lack of service. You should be a comedy club, comedy support central with a live band, with cowbell and everything. Good luck on that, I think you may be on to something.

[ Deleted - if you spent half the time learning that you used to lambast people with pretentious sarcasm, you might end up being a halfway decent sysadmin, or, at the very least, define a problem completely before jumping down peoples' throats for not answering it correctly. Of course, it might also give you the time to read that this is a community-supported forum, full of customers, not EV1 Techs. Funny how you missed that, and sit here and attack people who may or may not be in the same boat as you. ]
