hi folks,
I have one particular client that needs an extra 200GB of storage space. Therefore, I've been looking at the Storage Server solution. I am running a cPanel server, and understand that I need to setup PNET on the server in order to access the Storage Server...
i have a question tho... How would i be able to provide access to the Storage Server for this one particular client only?
looking for any ideas and/or best practices, smart remarks...
thanks in advance!

hmm, what your client is going to use it for ?
well.. i always think you can setup a bouncer so he is avail to connect to it via ftp...
but it realy depends on what he is going to use the server

thx theuruguayan...appreciate the reply.
client is going to use it for storing large graphic files, etc. that need to be shared remotely by his staff. nothing that needs to be accessible from the web. FTP would be a nice way to get into the storage server...something the client already knows how to do.
any other ideas? mahalo!

Note that the pnet network is only 10mbit which is pretty slow if they are going to be on live pages. Have you looked at just putting a 200gb drive in the machine, that is probably going to be the best option. Another possibility if you end up needing even more space is to take a look at the private racks because the servers would be linked via a 100mbit switch.

you could use your server as a "router".... and the storage server will get it's connection to the net via your server using some of your unused IP...
using webmin in both the "main" server and the storage server, it should not be too difficult to setup both a dhcp server and client.
as et00 said... be aware about the speed limit between your server and the storage server... and also be sure that you restrict all access to the storage server except ftp to only your server! (host.allow and host.deny). actually you should not have any unneeded service running on the storage server.
Cheers!
