Full Version: New server with load balancing - Cluster

Manuel
Hello,

I wants to migrate my all Linux server in to one, I have high capable server from EV1 (may about 2000 domains in a server) now, my question is once the server is full of domains. Then rather than buying a new server there are many good alternatives available (in EV1), I want to know about that..

1) Hardware upgrade
2) Load balancing
3) Cluster.

Which one is best suitable for me… Look, no of domains will be increasingly rapidly.

Your best bet to pursue information on each of those options is to email custom.orders@ev1servers.net. They would be the team that could help move you down on of those paths, and they can fill you in on all of the information we have regarding each.

Just a note, probably loadbalancer does nothing. But if you want to grow and you running cpanel you can make a dns cluster + mysql server + webserver all idependent. That will give you big grow power.

Can 'Dual Xeon 2.4' contains 2000 domains?

with no php or mysql, maybe

That is a really broad question and nobody can just say yes or no. Theoretically you could put 5000 domains on a dual xeon, they just had all be completely static. It really depends on how busy the site are, how much of it is dynamic, and all sorts of small things like that.

If you want a really big server ev1 also offers the 3.2 xeons that are pretty powerful servers.

"dns cluster + mysql server + webserver"

... can we make "Web Server + MYSQL Server + PHP Server + Mail Server" ? If so, is ev1 going to help us configure this architecture or we need to hire 3rd party services for this?

i dont think they will help you, you have better luck getting someone to do it.

Sounds like you want something like an EMIC LAMP cluster which will do that for you (well, it will do the MySQL and web cluster which is the hard bit - a DNS cluster is trivial to setup, as is a backup MX server). To set EMIC up, you would need three servers and each server connected to the private and public networks. The software is expensive, though. If you want any more details please drop me a pm.

What about the synchronization in cluster servers? Presently our server is not in cluster, if we will put the server in cluster then...?

you would be responsible for all of that. You also have to consider email, mysql which is dynamic and is not supported by ensim/cpanel/plesk.

If you are looking at hosting a lot of websites you are better off having a seperate mysql server and everything else on a seperate server. The clustering technology is more suited towards a single very busy website.

Any slight indication in that area so that I can proceed positively!!!

Clustering a control panel with thousands of domains is very very difficult. You are far better off partitoning your customers onto different identical servers, and using seperate DB servers.
