I'm on a Celeron 1.7 and would like to take advantage of the upgrade offer. My questions is: Will this mess up my current server configuration? Will there be problems ..etc in the future. I would like to here your expert advice before doing so. Thanks in advance.

No problems at all with linux. Linux will automatically detect it and you will be on your merry way

normally you would want to probably make a new kernel too with the new specs for the CPU, but from what I can tell in these kernels they have already enabled every possible option as either compiled in or an added module.

Is that only simple CPU exchange or we changing the whole mobo, mem ?

is there that much diff between a p4 2G and 2.6G?
Also, just noticed on the main page that p4 servers offer 1400GB of bandwidth transfer yet my old p4 is still at 1000GB will that be increased to 1400 w/ no additional cost?

The P4 2.4 package comes with the increased bandwidth quota. In a case like this, you are upgrading the processor of a Celeron 1.7 or P4 2.0 package, but the package is technically remaining the same.
If you would like, you can contact
custom.orders@ev1servers.net and discuss upgrading yourself to a new server package with increased bandwidth.

Hi, I have the following...
Pentium-4 2 GHZ
1GB RAM
80GB hard drive
Will upgrading to the 2.6 processor give me that much of an increase?
What have other members experienced with this upgrade in terms of CPU load or speed increase? I do lots of SQL queries on a busy site.
Thanks in advance for your replies! EV1 is the best!

If possible then yes, you should see a nice increase in functionality if your server processes are processor intensive.

Every little bit of extra CPU will help, the extra ram will also do a lot to help speed it up if you do not have 1Gb yet

And in many cases we can upgrade RAM to 2 GB (not always, but we can check).
