Because of the forum loss, I am just posting this link again:

Installing HotSaNIC On Ensim WEBppliance 3.0 For Linux

what is the server load (or extra server load) that hotsanic puts on your servers? I've noticed mine shoots up every 2 to 4 hours and stays there for 20-40 minutes. Is this normal? Is there a way I can make it a little more friendly to the system?
projectandrew
I don't believe it adds any extra load to the system (that I have noticed anyway).

I've attached two graphs of two of my servers. The only spikes I get is every 15 mins when the graphs get generated.

Edited: link to attachment http://forum.rackshack.net/attachment.php?...ttachmentid=115

Here are the graphs, I guess I'll have to do 2 posts, one for each graph...

Hrmm..it's not showing up

I've edited my post as the attachments don't seem to show up by default. Mods: What is wrong?

Any chance that this can be implemented on Plesk utilizing your how to? I quite like the detailed nature of your how-to.
Thanks in advance.
projectandrew
I don't have access to any plesk servers so I can't test what I produce. I expect that the installation should be very similar.

I asked this on the old thread, but I guess it's gone.. when my server crashes, how do I re-start hotsanic?
Thanks,
Matt
projectandrew
Just run:

/usr/local/HotSaNIC/./rrdgraph start

And you can add that line to the end of /etc/rc.local then it will start automatically when the machine reboots.

I have HotSaNIC working fine on Plesk although I didn't use this howto. Looking over it, I think the only difference is that you'll need to change this line:

WEBDIR="/var/www/html/HotSaNIC"

... to a directory on one of your domains.

Why ping and diskio is empty?
Can somebody help me with that?
Son Nguyen
I installed it and simply said, unbelievably useful!
Thank so much for your detailed How-to, projectandrew! The fastest and "cleanest" installation guide icon_smile.gif

However, please let us know when you enable ping-ing with Bastille. Your unofficial-support.com is very useful, I've bookmarked it. Keep up the great job and thank you again.

But it does consume a hell lot of CPU (well, normal perl's nature)
It raised my loadavg from 0.2 to about 2-3 for about 4 mins. I guess we need to limit only to the stats we'd like to see, and also have a longer span between updates.

But it's just simply an amazing piece of software!

To enable ping on Bastille:

When connected as root:

pico /etc/Bastille/bastille-firewall.cfg

Find and change the line to match:

ICMP_ALLOWED_TYPES="echo-request"

Press [CTRL-X], Y then [RETURN] to save and exit, then:

/sbin/service bastille-firewall restart
