Or, even better, racks.
But yes, they're very expensive and aren't cost efficient.
As a matter of fact, I have some servers hosted at NYC and we use blades there because of the limitations of space.
depending on whose blade chassis you use can limit the blade count. I have seen a 3 U blade chassis that holds 21 blades.
Compared to 3 - 1u servers in the same space.. big difference.
and after reading this.. Blades make better sense

yes the ROI for the hosting company is not as good as a white box or name brand tower.. but honestly... if someone is getting a blade chassis, they either have too much money and have no clue (you still take their money citing "learning experience") or they know what they are doing so you let em do the voodoo they do so well.
Thing is that if they know what they are doing and set up a nice server cluster, and get it all smooze.. do you think they will want to move it someplace else after that? The only reasons people move are A) price and B) service. Closing up shop is not a move but rather tossing in the towel
Ev1 has good prices.. tough to beat for the quality of Datacenter you get
Ev1 has good CS... sometimes it slips but hey, the last guy that was "perfect" got nailed to a cross. (religious humor mode ON) so if they slip up once in a while, fine, just correct the slip up and enlighten the person who did said slip up so they won't do it again.
At work we have a slogan:
"You must learn from the mistakes of others. You can't possibly live long enough to make them all yourself." - Sam Levenson
words all techs should live by. Ev1 should have an internal database for their customers.. if problem A) happens and the fix is _____ then that should be put into a knowledge base for the techs.. might save time and help the techs.
