Hi all

My client erased all of the emails, and now needs them back. I have a backup from the account, ut i cannot restore the account, or he will lose some other data. Is thee any way to restore only the emails, or something like that?

untar the backup file in some temporary folder. The mailbox should be at domainuser/homedir/mail/user/inbox

Being domainuser the user for the domain and user the mail account you want to recover.

exo, I see the file and it has lots of emails inside. But how can I get them? They are all in the same file, the images appear as TCFHGVHGVTHF, etc

You will need a mbox extract tool (there are some over there, just google for mbox extract). There is even a plugin for TotalCmd to read mbox files in your windows box just with TotalCmd (http://www.totalcmd.net/plugring/mbox.html)

Or you can replace the inbox file in any other email account with the one you just untared. Then access that email account with your mail program, and there will be user's emails:

Create a new mail account in some hosting of yourself. Now, replace the emtpy new created inbox file with the one you untared. Read the mail using that account.
