Last night I received this error:

IMPORTANT: Do not ignore this email.
Your kernel had an Oops!

This is the result of bad hardware or a kernel bug.
Your system may continue to function as normal, however
there is a good chance bad things are happening right now.
Bad things include: files disappearing, daemons crashing,
complete server crashs, disk corruption and many others.

You might want to check your RAM with memtest86 as this is
usually the cause of the problem.

This morning whm, cpanel, and ssh was offline however, web pages seemed to work. I submitted a ticket and ev1 continued to do a reboot. The server would not reboot however, and has been offline for 4 hours now! ev1 said "server will not boot past setting hostname".

So now I have two options: Use the KVM to try and fix the prob myself or order a restore and have the old drive put in as secondary.

I'm in a clinch here since I probably wouldn't know what I'm doing with the KVM, and I'm not sure how I go about copying data from slave to primary.

Is my server having a hardware issue, sofware, virus, hacker? What happened?

I would highly appreciate any help on this ASAP. I would be willing to hire for help with getting everything back to normal!
theuruguayan
that sounds like bad hardware, most likely request server swap, and ask them to put the hd us second hd so you can have everything back online.

tavenger5
Can they mount the hard drive in a new server as primary, or do they have to mount it as secondary and then I have to copy everything? If so how do I copy from the secondary to primary?
tavenger5
Okay, so I ordered the restore. I'm anxiously waiting for this to get done.

What do I do after the new server is setup and the old drive is set as secondary?
theuruguayan
you need to restore everything, you can check at the forums. there ahh, few ways to do it. but the faster is using rysnc.
