Hi,

RAQ 550, 768Mb RAM

Our RAQ 550 keeps on reporting out of memory problems and then it locks up, the email quits working first, and then the PHP/MySQL sites and then the admin page on some occasions we have has issues with passwords failing. Non database sites continue to run. The server reports 99% memory usage but I understand that this is normal for a Linux based box.

When we have the problem and run top we can see that there are MANY httpd processes and it looks like the box just grinds to a halt due to lack of resources.

What could be causing this and what can I do to stop the problem?

Sounds like the server is simply not optimized and or too busy.
