Hiya guys,

I have been looking for an SSL certificate ever since freessl closed it's doors and ssl4less bumped up their prices to $99

Nobody seems to have mentioned this company, so I thought I'd bring it to your attention icon_wink.gif

This new company are offering InstantSSL Certificates for only $49 so they maybe worth a try ?

They claim to offer a 128bit SSL certificate cosigned by Globalsign trusted by 85% of browsers NS 4.6+ and IE 5.01+ upgradable by installing globalsign's root certificate http://www.globalsign.net/securedby/check/index.cfm

I'll probably be registering with them within the next few days (I already have a D&B number) and will report back to this forum the results

I use GeoTrust. Just $99 when I registered with them. There certs work well and take just 10 minutes.

I have a question on this. Does one register the cert to the server name or to the domain name. For eg, my server and the webppliance resolve to my ip 123.456.789 however my main site(Where i sell my webhosting from and where i have my billing software, resolves to a different ip, one that was given to me as additional and my domain name is mydomain.com. So, i would like to get a cert that takes care of the annyoing message displayed when my users click on webppliance and i guess i need another for mydomain.com which resolves to my webhosting ip. Is this correct? Do i need 2 certs?

1 cert for 123.456.789 webppliance?
1 cert for 456.789.000 mydomain.com?

Thanks

You register domains, not IPs.

I know that but i need one for srv5.mydomain.com & mydomain.com? Thats my question.

If you buy individual certs, then yes (which is usually cheaper than the other option), there are wildcard certs, but you usually would need a few certs before it would be worth it to buy one of those (and even then depending on the provider it would need to be on the same IP).

Maybe it's a good time to wait.
RS is offering SSL Certs with the new PIV.
A while ago HS asked what we would pay for a SSL cert.
Who knows what HS will anounce to existing customers.

You can get them HERE for only 84.95 and they come with the Geotrust True Site Identity Seal and a 98% browser recognition.
