Hi,
I really like ev1 and think they have done amazing things with the industry. ev1 has helped me grow my biz and I have helped them grow theirs. So before reading this, please note that I do appreciate the product and service offered by ev1! However, I do have something that i want to get off my chest. so, here here is my topic of concern.
I have grown to require 5 servers, my first one being about 43 months ago and my newest only 3 months ago. The servers work great, and they are still powerful enough for my needs. They are just simple white boxes, either p4 or celeron. But the thing is I have really been waiting and waiting (as a customer) for remote reboots and consoles. Now, it seems that all the new features are getting given to the customers in dc2 and not the long term customers in dc1. See, with my 5 servers most of them don’t have remote reboot ports, some don’t have consoles and none of them have tripping point.
Now I understand that you cant just wack the new features into both dc's at the same time, its a big task and I can understand that. I dont mind that I didnt get remote reboot port first, Im happy to wait a few months, but when feature after feature come out and I still don’t have the first I dont really like it.
Please correct me if im wrong but that is the impression that i've been getting lately.

Philg,
i understand your point, but the main issue about this, is that you are in dc1. For the configuration of dc1 since the start of the datacenter is one way, and probably was not prepaer for this kind of stuff.
So it needs to be re-wire, and place needs to be made for the console ports (you should email patrick about it, for what someone told me everyone should have console) and the remote ports in the racks. That takes a litle more time, they are working all faster they can to get it all working. I know the people at ev1 are working everyday to get remote ports to everyone in the next few months.
About tripping point, i talk to randy (ev1 net admin) and he told me they were delay because of manufacture have some delay on deliver of the hardware needed.

Frustration is understandable, but it has been stated many times that all these features are being rolled out to EVERY customer. It will take time however, so please do not be impatient. Just keep in mind that these are nice free bonuses.
It is my understanding that it is never proper or acceptable to complain about not getting a free item quickly enough.

I have to be honest. The above complaint really gets under my skin!!!!!!!!!!!
We're investing MILLIONS to deliver features, services, and benefits to all of our customers at NO EXTRA CHARGE.
New features will generally roll out at DC2 as the infrastructure there was built from the ground up by our own design. It is easier, faster, and cheaper to install there.
Work is underway. Over 1200 man hours per week alone on the retrofit at DC1. It has taken longer than we expected. Racks most be reconfigured and expanded. Cables must be rerouted and replaced. Cables must be added. New equipment must be routed. It is a ton of work.
Keep in mind: we're adding remote reboot, remote console, and tipping point across our network. PLUS, we've already added our fireslayer product FREE at a time when other were and are charging for similar or inferior products.
We're delivering an ever more impressive feature set, every day. It's certainly more that we were ever committed to delivering. Under promise - over deliver.... in action.

One of those things that come with the business I guess. Can never make everyone happy. I'm sure if you started giving out servers for $10 with these features, someone would still find a reason to complain. Not trying to be a cheerleader here, but I have met the staff and HS, and they are really a great group of people willing to go out of thier way to help out or get us what we want, need, or dont even know we want yet

Well, HeadSurfer, I am one of the people in DC1 that are going to be the last to receive the benefits of TippingPoint, Remote Reboot, and such... I know the customers in DC2 haven't been there as long as I have, and will still get it first.... and I still can't say thank you enough!
I have lasted for months and months without these features, I can last however long it takes to get them set up. I wasn't promised fireslayer when I ordered my server. I wasnt promised tipping point when I ordered my server. I wasn't promised anything like this when I ordered my server. Wether you guys had these projects finished a month ahead of time, or a year late, thank you!

You need to remember that these, even though free, are selling features for EV1 to gain more clients.
As we are already paying clients, it can be then installed down the road.
