I'm seeking tools that will basically help me understand my bandwidth usage.

- I would like to know which service uses what bandwidth. A breakdown would be great. EV1 installed iptraf for me. However this program is only used when I'm logged in. What I'm looking for is a kind of MRTG that shows me web smtp ftp bw usage.

- I usually check my MRTG at ev1. Once in a while I see sudden input and outputs which I call glitches momentarily in the graph. Lately this has been occuring every 7 hours. BW usage goes up to 1 mbits for about 5 mins. My usage is around 200-300 Kbits.

- Are there any tools that will send me an email if my bw is above a certain Mbit kbit ?

-For web, is it possible to distinguish the realtime traffic and know which domain is using what.

Help will be appreciated.

I'm using Redhat 9 with plesk 7.03.

Run a google search for bandwidthd (no, this is not a typing error... note the D at the end).
It should do what you are looking for.
