Hi all,
i have this question. Right now i have a P4 with 1,5GB of memory. I was wondering to take another server a a P2.4 with 1GB of memory, but i want avoid downtime, cause if i take a new box i will be force to update the ns and wait. On my server i run a lot of site with huge MySQL DB, so my big problem is only with memorym and i can't add other 512MB of memory. I have also a second server that runs fine few sites, and an entry lever server that is used by only for one site and is used to run some my tool. I want know if is possibile to share only some resource, considering that on my first box i have ensim, i want know if is possible to connect an entry level server without control panel, via pnet and then start balancing only some service MySQL in primis. Also i would now i can manage the balacement with some software with my third box where i have only one site. This would be great so if i need more resource i can just take another server conncet via pnet and start balancing. Off course balancing httpd and MySQL should be the best. I hope that is clear my question ( my english is hust a bit crap ) anyway if someone can tell me that is possible i will start some test on my workstation using vmware.
Thanks in avance.

Hi Venomous,

To answer your questions you can not just add your current box and another new one to a loadbalancer. I think that EV1 can move your current box into a privat rack and then you can loadbalance it but that will involve a change of IPs.

There is no reason why adding another new cluster should result in downtime if you do it in an intelligent way.

I would not recommend trying to loadbalance just some service however this is possible using round robin DNS.

The final option is to split your servers so you have one mysql server and a lot of webservers. Or, you can use a mysql cluster.

Please feel free to pm me if you need a hand setting your setup up.
